At 1888 feet above Sea level, Naran is the main centre of Tourism in the Kaghan Valley. It is located 133 Km from Abbottabad. It is located at the junction of Saiful Maluk Nullah with Kunhar River where most visitor stay in Naran for few days while enjoying the various day excussions to lake saif ul Muluk, Lalazar, Lake Lulusar and Babu Sar Pass.There are also several short walks and tracks around Naran.

By May, Shogran and Naran are usually accessible by 4WD. Hotel prices and occupancy rates are low at this time, but many of the scenic attractions are still under snow. High season begins in earnest in June. The monsoon brings rain and numerous temporary roadblocks in July and August, but up valley travel is possible. August is the best time for a jeep crossing of the Babusar Pass, at least until the road is completely upgraded. Fine weather returns in September and October, with the nights getting colder and the chance of snow in late October. A beautiful river runs the length of the valley with forest and meadows dominating the landscape, as well as numerous peaks that reach over 17,000 feet in the sky. This is a pleasantly remote area where wildlife abounds. Interesting bazaars are in the small villages and boats are available for rent at the lake. The valley extends 155 km rising from an elevation of 2,134 m to its highest point, Babusar Pass, at an elevation of 4,173 m.
Trout fishing is a popular activity in the Naran Valley. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the crystal clear water of the valley lakes and in the Kunhar River is favorite pastime for many. A fishing permit can be obtained from the Fisheries Department at Shinu or at Naran. Bringing your own angling gear is optional as you can rent equipment from shopkeepers in Naran Bazaar.
Pony riding is a favorite activity for families during their trip to Kaghan Valley. Ponies are easily available for rent at Naran, Saiful Muluk, Lalazar and Paya. A ride around Lake Saiful Muluk can be a most enjoyable experience. One of the most thrilling trips in from Besal to Lake Dudupat Sar or Babusar Top.
Kaghan is a good place for amateur climbers to learn the basic skills of mountaineering. Malika Parbat (5291m), Musa Ka Mussalla (4076m) and Makra Top (3885m) are the main peaks of the Kaghan Valley. Malika Parbat might be less in height, but it is quite technical to climb and a true challenge.
Kaghan is an excellent destination for trekking and hill walking. There are a number of trekking routes all along the valley. Naran is ideal base camp for outings.
In addition to short duration jeep rides to Sri Paya, Saiful Muluk, Lalazar and Sharan, Kaghan Valley also ideal for thrilling jeep rides from Naran to Babusar Pass and Nori Top.While going on a longer duration jeep ride make sure you have selected a good local driver and jeep for a safe journey on the rough roads.
No trip to Kaghan Valley is complete without a visit to the legendary Lake Saiful Muluk. The lake is named after Prince Sauful Muluk, who fell in love with a fairy from the mountains. At 10,500 feet, Lake Saiful Muluk is surrounded by impressive snow clad mountains and crowned by the summit of Malika Parbat (Queen of the Mountains). The highest peak in Kaghan Valley, the majestic Malika Parbat has a height of 5291 meters. Words cannot describe the beauty and serenity of the setting and picture postcards do no justice. The crystalline waters of Lake Saiful Muluk reflecting the surrounding snow peaked mountains is an image that must be seen in person.
Lalazar is a scenic spot with thick forest of pine and fir. The grassy mountains slopes are full of wild flowers
